Duck Eggs for Sale
We currently have several ducks that are laying. If you have chicken egg allergies these can make wonderful substitutes. They may be too strong for some people if you are cooking them scrambled or fried, but are excellent in baking and cooking. Just contact us if you would like some.

Pasturing Hens
Last fall we decided to get layer chickens again. Instead of using our chicken coop (now the vegetable garden), we wanted to pasture them.
First, we built a moveable chicken coop.

Here you can see the nesting box in the back.
It contains a fold down back. We have inserted dividers
so that the there are nesting boxes.
We are planning on covering the sides with lattice work.

Snow in April
Like other areas of the United States we are having unusually cold weather. The early risers woke up to a thin layer of snow that promptly melted. This pattern has been repeated move than just a few times today. Andrew and I sorted sheep this afternoon while it was snowing and "snow pelleting". The rams and the ewes switched pastures as we want the ewes to graze down the pasture that the chickens will be moved into.
The snow pellets look like styrofoam balls.

Chicks are here!
Well, they finally made it. The poor things had their trip delayed from Welp Hatchery due to bad weather. They look so cute and fluffy at this stage.

Vacation: San Diego
Last week, our family flew to San Diego for a family reunion. It was hosted by my grandfather and was a fabulous success. San Diego is definitely a favorite vacation place and we are trying to find a way to get back there soon.
Besides the above, highlights included spending lots of time with our extended family who we like a lot, eating dinner on the 11th floor of the La Jolla Hotel, and watching the shows at Sea World.
