Are your chickens soy free?
We tried a few years ago to do a soy free batch, and the birds didn't do well at
all. Primarily, because there are amino acids in the soy. These are very hard
to replace or supplement (we tried to go soy free 3 different times and none of the combinations
worked). So after much discussion with our customers, we decided that we were
not going to try to remove the soy considering it is a relatively minor part of
the ration. Overwhelming,
our customers said that they would rather
have chickens raised outside in a natural and healthily environment, then to have
them "soy free".
What does freezer ready mean?
Freezer ready means that our birds are plucked, gutted and cleaned, all ready to be popped into a freezer or cooked. They are pre bagged whole in thick plastic bags.
Do you ship to other states?
At this moment we generally do not ship to other states due to the cost. If you are interested, please contact us.
Is the skin left on the chicken?
Yes the skin is left on the chicken as it is a fairly easy matter to remove it yourself and most of our customers prefer to cook it this way.
Is it possible to get hearts, livers, gizzards or feet?
Yes it is possible; we just need to know before the chickens are being processed as we do not automatically save these. Prices change, so please ask.
How big is a 6-8lb chicken?
Some of the large chickens are the equivalent of a small turkey. For a large family, it can easily be one meal's worth of meat. For a couple, there will definitely be leftovers. On average a 6lb chicken contains 4lbs of meat.
Do you offer cut up chickens?
At this moment we are not offering cut up chickens
